SSSB Student Housing Guide

Overview

SSSB (Stiftelsen Stockholms Studentbostäder) is Stockholm’s largest student housing provider, offering over 8,000 units primarily for KTH, SU, and KI students.

Eligibility

To live with SSSB, you must:

  • Be a member of a student union affiliated with SSCO (Stockholm Federation of Student Unions).
  • Be actively studying (at least 15 higher education credits per semester).

Queue System

SSSB uses a queue-based system. Each day you are registered in the queue, you earn one “queue day.” Popular areas and studio apartments often require several years of queue days, while corridor rooms in areas like Lappis can sometimes be secured with fewer days.

  • Lappis (Lappkärrsberget): The largest student area, near Stockholm University.
  • Kungshamra: Located in Solna, popular with both KTH and SU students.
  • Kista: Modern apartments in the “Silicon Valley” of Sweden.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Large variety of locations.
  • Reliable and established provider.
  • Student-focused communities.
